Submission Guidelines

Free Romance Fiction is now accepting submissions. However there are some guidelines we would like everyone to follow.

1. You must have had a romance short story, novella, or novel published within the last five years. Published to us means published with any traditional or even non-traditional publisher such as a POD publisher for example. We will even accept authors who have had stories published online or in a print magazine. Although being posted on your own website does not count, it must be through some other online avenue such as a newsletter etc.

2. Your story must be a romance story. It can be in any sub-genre including but not limited to, contemporary, historical, science fiction, paranormal, and erotic. As long as it is a romance we’re happy.

3. Your story must be 99% error free, and you must follow the formatting and submission guidelines listed below.

4. Your story cannot be published anywhere else at the same time that it is featured on Free Romance Fiction. We believe the old saying that, “content is king” and we want to provide content for our readers that cannot be found anywhere on the web or elsewhere.

5. The minimum length for a story is five pages. There is no maximum length, you are welcome to submit a full novel to Free Romance Fiction if you want to.

Note: All authors who submit a story and follow the guidelines successfully will receive three free months of premium advertising for their latest release. You will be asked to provide us with the cover and a link to your purchase page which will then be posted on the front page.

Be sure and check out the covers at the bottom of this page. You will be asked to pick the one you would like for your free story upon acceptance.

 

Formatting

1. All manuscripts must be attached to an e-mail in rtf format.

2. Your manuscript should be in New Times Roman or New Courier font with paragraphs indented .5, tabbing is fine. Each page should be double spaced, and have 1” margins.

3. Your manuscript should have its pages numbered at the bottom center and should start with the first page. Please do not put a title page on your manuscript, instead put a header with the title of your story, and then your last name and first name in parenthesis. Tab your header over so it is on the far top right of the page.

4. Tell us which of the 40 or so covers offered that you want us to use (they are in the slide show at the bottom of this page and are numbered), or attach your own cover. If you submit your own cover, it should have the following dimensions width: 1008 pixels, height: 1416 pixels, and resolution: 96 pixels/inch. We will resize as necessary but this ensures that when we do add your cover it looks its best. Attach it to your submission e-mail in jpeg format.

5. Send all submissions to submissionsfreeromancefiction@yahoo.com In the body of the e-mail give us the following information: your real name, your pen name if you have one and want to use it, your e-mail, your website, and a small biographical paragraph. If you don’t have a website then add your publishing history to your biographical paragraph.

As long as the submission and formatting guidelines are followed, no story will be rejected. We look forward to reading your submissions!
